Newton Lake Trip 2

Today I have just finished editing my second trip to Newton Lake. I want to remaster the old episodes during the winter months to reflect this idea for Clean Jersey Waterways.
Our first trip to Newton Lake brought in a lot of trash such as a crazy looking stuffed animal, fishing line, lawn chair, and two big tires. I returned back on the following day because there were some items that I just didn't have time to get on my first trip.
I start the video by cleaning away from the actual launch spot. The bridge I was cleaning is a nice fishing spot for crappie in the winter and just about everything in the other seasons. The bridge leads down to the side of the lake where I was able to reach out and pull a decent amount of small trash and plastics.
After cleaning the bridge and that part of the lake, we head over to a "launch" spot. This is a secret little area that gives me quick access to areas where a lot of bank fishers have their fishing luck.
After launching, I almost immediately found my first tire. The first one was easy to get to and get on the kayak. After getting the first tire on board, I spot another one.
The second tire was completely covered in mud and a lot tougher to get out. When it finally comes out of the mud and I stack it on the other tire, it falls off the kayak back into the water. I was able to remove it from the water again, but the way I got it back to land was disgusting and I hated it.
After clearing our kayak off and dropping the two tires off on land, we got back out to the water to continue to clean. We found a couple buckets and bigger plastic items, but our main focus the rest of the video was gathering fishing line out of trees.
I realized during this video how important it is to go to the areas people bank fish. This is a lesson I take on all of my cleaning trips now and after watching some of my videos, you may see why it's important to retrieve as much line back as possible when you are getting snagged or hung up.
I had a great trip out on this beautiful day in the 08, but at the end of the video you will see that my phone battery had died, so I was unable to record the entire trip.
I was disappointed at the time because this was the third time I went out on this weird idea to clean lakes, fish, and record it, and I already messed up by letting my phone die.
I found a tire and lawn chair that I said I would go back for after fishing and cleaning other areas. I had no way to record it after my phone died and I still went back and got those items. I could have easily just edit out of my video any mention of those items, but I decided to go back and clean them out.
Overall our second trip to Newton Lake was a great success with a lot of trash and 3 car tires. Our tire total for Newton lake is 5 and our career total is 9!
Thank you and have a good one!
